What to expect from your first plastic surgery consultation

Demonstration post: sample text, pending review by Dr. Flórez.

A first consultation is a conversation, not a decision. Its purpose is for the surgeon to understand your case, for you to understand your options, and for both of you to decide calmly whether a procedure makes sense for you.

Before the appointment

Gather your basic medical history: conditions you have, medications you take, allergies and previous surgeries. If you have already had a procedure, bring the reports. And think, in your own words, about exactly what you want to change and why now.

During the consultation

The surgeon reviews your history, examines you and talks with you about what you are looking for. It is the moment to be frank about expectations, and also to hear, just as frankly, what is and is not possible in your case.

  • The available options are explained and, when appropriate, so are the alternatives that do not require surgery.
  • Risks and recovery are discussed.
  • Your questions are answered, with no rush.

Questions worth bringing

  1. Which procedure is the most suitable for my case, and why?
  2. What risks does it carry and how are they managed?
  3. What is recovery like, and when can I resume my activities?
  4. What care do I need before and after?
  5. What is the quote and what does it include?

After the appointment

A good consultation ends with a written plan. Take the time you need to review it: there is no obligation to decide that same day.

This text is a demonstration and does not replace a medical consultation. Dr. Flórez reviews it and replaces it with his own content once the project is approved.
